Today, I want to share a fun and easy way to create 3D objects. You don’t need to be an artist to sculpt great three dimensional models and use them in your games or animations. I know that you can easily find free models online, but creating the objects yourself gives you a great feeling of uniqueness and accomplishment.
Also, this technique is very quick; you can create simple mockup models in a matter of minutes, so you don’t have to wait for the real models from your graphic designer to start developing games.
For those not interested in creating 3D models to use in games or videos, I would still recommend to check this site out. You could create an image for your logo, avatar, etc.
You might also find digital sculpting relaxing after a long day since everyone is an artist at heart.
What do you need?
Why I like it
⇒ It’s free, and you don’t need to sign up
⇒ Easy to use, but allows to create awesome models
⇒ You can save the model as an .obj file (saves the mesh of the object) and export it to Maya, Blender, Unity, or 3D Builder
⇒ You can save the model as a .sgl file (saves the object with its properties, e.g., color) and import it later to the site
⇒ You can download a standalone version of the application
⇒ It has a symmetry option, so you only need to sculpt half of the model, the other half is done automatically and at the same time
⇒ You can turn on/off the symmetry option
⇒ You can specify the tool behavior so you get different effects, e.g. pinch, drag, flatten. Please see Figure1 for more tool options.
Figure1: SculptGL tool options.
⇒ For each behavior, you can customize its options, see Figure2 for brush options.
Figure2: SculptGL brush options
⇒ You also can add new objects to the scene (Scene -> Add Sphere/Cube/)
Here are some of my models that I created in less than five minutes.

Finally, here’s a video that shows how awesome and detailed your models could be and ideas what to do with them later. Honestly, possibilities are endless.
Please try it and share your awesome creations in the comments (the fastest option would be to use snipping tool).
